Charlbury Ladies to get International Match Day Coverage

Our Ladies match away to Sileby Town Ladies on Sunday 15th July has been selected by ESPN Cricinfo and England cricket sponsor, NatWest, to get their full professional coverage.
The WML Division One clash at Mill Lane will be covered, ball by ball, by the Cricinfo team and will feature everything that you’d expect from international match day coverage.
It will also feature a master class with a guest appearance from surprise female international player, interviews with the captains and a player of the match award, all covered live on the internet.
The day begins with the 45-minute master class and is then followed by the coin toss at 11:45am, with the game starting at midday.
There’ll also be a match review video at the closure of the game.
The Sileby bar will be open throughout the day and there will be a BBQ on. Come along and support the ladies and enjoy the sunshine and a fun day out for the family, with lots of space for youngsters to play and practice their cricket skills – including in the NatWest virtual reality zone.
Good luck Charlbury!!!

Clubhouse & Ground Reminder

Please can I remind everyone that all club members have a responsibility to look after our club and clean up after themselves.
There’s not been any major incident or anything, but over the last couple of weeks there has been two or three comments made to me that different people/groups have come to the club and had to tidy up from the previous people/group before getting on with what they are doing.
In other words; ‘we could all do better’.
I think you’ll all agree…. we have a fine clubhouse which we want to keep that way, so pls continue to look after and keep up together.
Thanks in anticipation.

Call to arms – Under 9s and 11s cricket needs your help

Cricket this season for the under 9 and 11 groups.

You may be aware that after many years’ service, Paul Butler has decided to stand down as the Under 9 coach. Paul has been a very positive influence on the club, bringing rigor through his position as Welfare officer to ensure we all can play and enjoy cricket in a safe and friendly environment and also spending many hours coaching the more junior players in the club. Paul has always expressed the need for coaching ratios to children to improve and with his children no longer playing cricket and a house move out of Charlbury, he feels that, understandably, this is the right time to move on.

Paul has for a long time, arranged games for the Kwik cricket tournaments and this year was trying to sort out teams for the Under 11s. With Paul leaving, there is a massive gap in what we have previously offered and this season we have been unable to supply anyway near as much opportunity for the 9,10 and 11-year-olds to play in games, as we would like. The youth committee is already stretched but we are putting together an emergency plan led by Paul Quibell Smith, Richard Ede and myself to at least try and ensure the coaching continues on a Friday and we can honour fixtures through the Kwik cricket and Under 11 super 8s program.

From this Friday, Paul Quibell Smith will be running the junior Under 9 group and Martyn Scull will continue to train the Under 11 group. We do however need to introduce a new brand of coaches that are willing to give up their time on match days or on a Friday evening. Therefore, could you please contact either Richard or myself if you are able to at least offer assistance for one session (or more) through games and training. Like you, we work in the week and we need to share this burden – this is a club wide plea to all members and parents!
