Cricket Force Saturday 27th March 2010
Our sincere thanks to all those who gave of their time this morning to start the clearing up operation at the cricket club.
Much was achieved and a skip was quickly filled with all sorts of rubbish, but a lot more work is required if we are to achieve our aim to have everything ready for the start of the season.
If you are a player, then you do have a responsibility to help, so if you were unable to attend the Cricket Force morning, then please contact me or Glenn who will quickly advise what is needed.

Henry Blofeld Evening - Friday 19th March 2010
The Fundraising Committee wishes to thank everyone who supported the 'Henry Blofeld Evening', which was a great success and raised over £1,600 towards the fund to complete the pavilion.
Our very sincere thanks to all those who gave of their time so willingly, particularly those who provided the lighting, sound and the bar licence.

Job Vacancies at the club!!
We are looking for a Club Secretary, so if you feel able to join the Management Committee in this role, please get in touch with Colin Olliffe on 01993.704108 or 07909 978863 or e-mail: colin.olliffe@gmail.com.
As from the autumn of 2010 we will be looking for a Club Treasurer to take over from Anne Olliffe who has done the job for (too many!) years, so again, if you are interested in knowing what this role entails, have a chat with Anne or Colin - contact details as above.
Yet another role to be filled in the club and that is someone (male or female) to look at the job of 'sponsorship secretary', something that we really need to get to grips with now that we have to re-pay the ECB loan and other related issues.
This will involve contacting various companies to build up a list of sponsors, particularly for the main fundraising projects.
Give us a call to discuss this if YOU are interested?
Many thanks

Chairman's report to the AGM on the 11th October 2009
During my first year as Chairman, I have found out what a busy job it is, particularly living up to my request to have an ‘hands on’ approach, but trust I have done the job to the satisfaction of you all, realising that there are still issues to be dealt with, and the challenge of 2010 with the ‘new pavilion’ coming on stream.
As I mentioned at the dinner last evening, it has not been a good year for the club in terms of where we ended up in the league, but feel we should not be too disappointed, as with effort and determination we can pull back to where we were before, and possibly even move up a place in our divisions?
I see the main problem of 2009 as being one of a general lack of commitment, with some players not caring if they played or not, or generally not bothering to support their captains, and this has to be changed if we are to build strong teams from the 1st XI down to the Women’s and Sunday teams.
Much work has been done outside of the playing arena, and the major thing to mention is the building of our new pavilion, which is now very close to being handed over by the main contractors. This of course is just one phase, and for us the real work starts here, to carry out the many tasks to complete the build. We will need lots of help in the final stages, so club members will be called on to help with these jobs, and will hopefully give their time and support?
We still need to continue to work closely with the Youth Section and to involve them as much as possible in Adult cricket, plus encouraging them to become involved in the general running of the club. This can only be done by setting an example, so the older members of the club need to show a lead for the younger ones to follow.
I personally am looking forward to 2010 season, the opening of the new pavilion, hosting the OCA Representative game, a OCA final, the Beer Festival and a number of social activities we have in the planning stage, and above all to see all the teams playing as focused units, in the hope that we can all enjoy being part of a committed club, which is only possible by members showing a bond of commitment and solidarity right from the start of the new season.
As most will know, I have an insight into all the 60+ clubs in the O.C.A. and we at Charlbury have by far better facilities than most, and also know that our club is better organised than most, so there is no excuse why we cannot achieve all that we set out to do in 2010.
Thank you to everyone who have worked so hard in 2009 and look forward to working with you into 2010 and beyond.
Colin Olliffe
Chairman
