1st XI Captain

As some of you are aware after a fantastic spell as 1st XI skipper; Josh Hornsby has decided it is time to step down. Josh has overseen a great time for CCC 1st XI with the undoubted highlight being 2017 when we won OCA Division One. Over the year’s, Josh has put so much effort into the club, especially our 1st XI and the superb results were plain for all to see. Not only has our leading side been competitive and victorious under Josh, it has also been a great place to play for all those involved. On behalf of the club, I would like to thank Josh for all his efforts and wish him all the very best as a player for CCC this coming season. I’m sure they’ll be a second coming at some point.

As always though we have to look ahead and it is with great pleasure that I can announce that CCC’s new 1st XI captain is Tom Nash. Like Josh, Tom has been at CCC from youth level, Sunday Cricket, 3rd team, 2nd team (including captain) and has been a key member of our 1st XI at the top of the innings for three years now. No doubt, Tom has big boots to fill, but I’m sure you’ll all agree with me when I say that we all have every confidence in Tom to steer the ship, put his own unique mark on the side and continue to see great success on and off the pitch.

Tom – from all at CCC, we are 100% behind you and delighted with your decision to step up, all the very best.

Our Ladies team won their league on Sunday; Midlands League Division 1 East.
It has been a great season, so many strong performances. All who took part, should be very proud of the achievement. Finishing top of this league is superb news for the club!

A particular mention must go to our wonderful captain… So much hard work, dedication and laughs for such a long period of time, well done Strody and thank you!

Cher & Vicky Stepping Down

After many years of producing the finest teas in the OCA and now the Cherwell also, Cher is standing down at the end of the season. As a club we can’t thank Cher enough for her dedication, constant smile and quite superb teas. Over the next month I’m sure you’ll all want to have a word individually and thank Cher for all her hard work.
Also, after six years in the job, Vicky will be standing down as 3rd team captain at the end of the season (staying as ladies captain). The 3rd team has been a brilliant place to play during Vicky’s tenure. Vicky has embraced the role by introducing youth players and ladies, getting the best out of our more experienced players and most importantly ensuring all enjoy themselves when representing our 3rds. We can’t thank Vicky enough, what an innings!
We now need to look forward to next season.
We have two exciting and important vacancies within the club which you can get involved with. If you are interested and would like to know more and/or apply for either of the roles (or both), pls email or call Tom Eaton by Friday 17th August latest.
eatontom81@yahoo.com / 07826 520452.
We would like to have someone in place to take over from Cher by the end of August, Cher has very kindly offered to show her replacement ‘the ropes’ and then that person will be voted in at our AGM in October. For the 3rd team role we would like to know who is interested, hold discussions and then likewise our new captain will be voted in at our AGM.
If you have any questions, thoughts or ideas about either role pls don’t hesitate to discuss with Tom, Cher, Vicky or any of the other captains.
